Welcome to Peter Lang AG Switzerland

The Bern office was founded by Peter Lang as the head office of his publishing activities in 1977. Since then, direct marketing and sales for the entire publishing group have been undertaken by the Swiss office. The Bern publishing house currently publishes around 109 book series with titles by distinguished academics. Some of the series take an interdisciplinary approach, stimulating discussion between the different subject areas. The series European University Studies is split into the subject areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Law and Economics, and offer a platform on which new academics can publish their dissertations.

Bern also publishes one-off publications in all subject areas. There is a strong focus on international higher education. We publish books in German, French and English as well as in Italian, Spanish, Russian and other languages.

The programme is strongly oriented towards humanities and social sciences. Subject areas such as German studies, educational theory, linguistics, history, musicology, history of art and theology as well as religious studies are particularly well represented, as are specialized disciplines such as Slavic, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese and Islamic studies. Our programme represents an important part of Swiss research in these fields. We are however constantly expanding our programme and we are also interested in series and one-off publications in other subject areas.
